When me and my family talk about holidays like Christmas, it's a reactive situation that makes my mom list down all the things she needs for the occasion. She'd get my sisters to organize the party, invite our relatives, while she takes care of the food. Although our relatives usually bring food, we also have our share to the feast. As for me, well I just enjoy the process (and the food). Seriously, I've tried so many restaurants this year, tasted different types of dishes, attended openings, and my tummy couldn't be happier. But, I've only noticed one thing, no matter how full I am after eating meals after meals, I still eat when I get home. I always look for my mom's cooking, and she would always save some for me because she knows that I'm her "ever-starving" kid. Another thing I noticed, there's something about us Filipinos that has this certain craving for our own, am I right? We may be open to a new palette of satisfaction, but we will remain with our home-grown buds.
So for this holiday season, let's go back to what we want (and love) to eat--- which is Pinoy food!
Cabalen Restaurant is celebrating their 30th Anniversary serving sumptuous Kapampangan menu in a buffet style! As part of their milestone, their aim is to strengthen ties with your love ones, and what better way to do that than bond with great company over great food. Before I start off with the review, I am still very grateful to be a part of their first blogger's event and make a review about it + the great food and to be able to meet respected food bloggers.
This season, they included exclusive holiday selections for the very special occasion. Nothing can get more special than that! Here are what's included: Callos (Tender OX-tripe stew), Paella (they have it in Seafood, Vegetarian, ang Paella Negra.)
If you're really craving for some nostalgia, nothing beats the classic. I bet you'd want to try their Kare-Kare, Dinuguan, Caldereta, Letchon-Paksiw, Crispy Kangkong, and Tibok-Tibok. Feeling hungry already? Oh me too.
By the way, Cabalen Restaurant is not all about Filipino food. Other branches also includes other asian cuisine.
From food all the way up to it's interiors, Cabalen will not only make you feel that you're back home, they will really bring you home with their aesthetics as well.
I do have to include that their staff are very kind at SM Megamall branch. I mean, coming from the service industry, It's a pain in the ass to work for hours and still keep a smile on your face and give gratitude to your guests. So, I give a thumbs up for them.
Paella Vegetarian. - For the veggie lovers out there or for those who are on a diet but can't keep from eating at buffets, try this one. Calories are worth it!
Bulalo. - Who needs a partner this Christmas? This bowl is enough to keep me warm. (emotional breakdown for 2 minutes.) Just kidding!
Their drinks are indeed freshly made. But if you're careful with your sweets, you can always ask for adjustments.
Let us not forget about desserts. Screw Ice creams and cakes, bring out our rich and sweet delicacies. For us Filipinos, we must admit that we will always have room for desserts. And if that room is big, try their: Bibingka, Suman Bulagta, Bico, and Maja Mais.
Now, If I wasn't able to make you hungry, I don't know what will. Or maybe I do. Are you ready?
